Minnesota State Fair 2019

The 2019 State Fair is just about over and in the books as I write this on Labor Day. But I wanted to post a few pics and highlights form our three visits this year. Our first visit was on opening day.

Blue Barn Tennessee hot chicken on a stick. We both really liked this new item for 2019. It was not really very spicy. Flavorful and the chicken was delicious. I liked the corn flake breading also.
fries
Thai rolled ice cream from the Grandstand
Honestly, this time both fries were very similar and we could not pick a favorite.
pronto pup- I am solidly on team pronto pup!
lots of bees in the pollinator garden this year
beer flight

new events building on the North end of the fairgrounds
egg roll on a stick
corn roast
Turkey to go- John's favorite fair food
We saw Mac MacAnally of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefers in the afternoon at the bandshell and in the evening we saw Belinda Carlisle.
Our second fair visit was on Wednesday, with the main purpose being the Hall and Oates concert at the Grandstand. So we only had a couple hours before the show to dine and drink. We all shared the Mouth Trap cheese curds.
shrimp and grits from Funky Grits
blueberry key lime pie- new this year and really good.

I am pretty sure I had something else to eat, another pronto pup I think! And I had Vescio's garlic cheese bread after the concert too.
Hall and Oates was super fun and a great show!
Our third fair visit was on Sunday, September 1st to see Will form Day Head Mazy play at the Hanger for an acoustic show.
mini donuts
deep fried taco on a stick from Taco Cat. Very good, particularly the tomatillo salsa on top. A new item for 2019 also.
vietnamese coffee from Que Viet
another round of corn
We rode the Space Tower shortly after a quick rain shower.
I also picked up a cone of Sweet Martha's cookies before we left. Forgot to get a pic of those too.

Overall 2019 was an excellent year for the State Fair. We had some of the most amazing weather I can recall, it was almost cool many evenings. I won't be surprised if attendance breaks records again this year.
