Demi

We went to Demi for my birthday this year. Yes, this post is ridiculously late. At this point I am just posting this for ourselves, so we can remember what we had on this visit.

Demi is the third restaurant of Gavin Kaysen, a James Beard award-winning chef who worked with many famous chefs around the world and in New York. He moved to Minneapolis to open his own restaurant Spoon and Stable back in 2014 and to live with his wife and children. We are lucky that Minnesotans love to return to Minnesota with their families.

I had tried to get a reservation when they first opened up reservations for October, but was not successful. I thought maybe Halloween would have some cancellations since it is an odd day for dining out and most people are busy with kids or events. So, I hoped for a cancellation and sure enough, a couple weeks before I got an email, which we reserved after some discussion.

We had the Barrington menu and added the wine paring at the last minute. On arrival, we were welcomed by a couple of hosts and taken to our seats. (Mr. Kaysen was not there that night, to my slight disappointment, but since it was Halloween, I was not surprised.)

I'm not gong to comment on the food-- spoiler alert, it was all amazing and it has been covered a lot in the media- but I wanted to show what we ate at least.

                                                     mignardises (small desserts)

                                                   freshly made rice krispy treats
doughnut for my birthday treat
The take home box for my doughnut and a copy of the menu to bring home with an insert for the wine pairings.

We enjoyed our experience at Demi immensely. The food and service were both beyond compare and definitely among the best we have experienced in Minneapolis. Yes, it is expensive, but it was also a very unique experience, which we enjoyed a lot. We look forward to coming up with an excuse to return again!
