Las Vegas trip report - 12.14-18.2018 - The One Where...Whoops We Vegased Again

We kind of forgot to mention that we took another trip to Vegas in the middle of December. We saw we had a bunch of comp rooms at a bunch of Caesars properties, and I had always wanted to stay at Paris, so we booked the rooms and flights.

Our flight was fine, departed just a bit late, but we arrived on time. Grabbed a Lyft to the hotel and checked in at Paris. We tried to do the $20 trick to upgrade our room, but nothing much at all was available, even if we wanted to pay extra per night. So we took the handicap accessible room with not much of a view at all. The room was pretty worn, but it was fairly close to the elevator so that was nice.

After checking in, we played Wheel of Fortune for awhile and then decided to head over to Gold Coast to play blackjack in the Hippie Pit.

After playing blackjack we went to Ping Pang Pong for a kinda late night snack.
The Wheel of Fortune had a pretty high jackpot, so we played that quite a bit all over town on this trip.

Saturday morning we had breakfast at Wicked Spoon at the Cosmo with our monthly BOGO from silver level on the players card. Not a bad deal.

After breakfast, we played slots here and there around Cosmo and ended up playing video poker at the sports book bar.
I hit this puppy, which was my second in two trips, so I was happy about it!

We grabbed lunch at Secret Pizza at the Cosmo, which was good as always.

I think we played a few more assorted slots at the Cosmo and used our remaining drink coupons and went back to the hotel to change clothes. We walked down to the Cromwell and played blackjack there for awhile. The lowest limits were $15, but we both managed to hang in there and did OK. The dealers were very good and other players were pretty decent too. The drink service was excellent as well.
We walked down to the Mirage and played bubble craps until it was time for our dinner reservation.
appletini
shrimp cocktails excellent once more
ribeye
brussels sprouts

The food and service were very good. We had a server we had on a previous visit a few years ago. After dinner, we played blackjack for awhile, but the other players were terrible.
We had bought tickets to see Ron White in advance and he was great. Very funny. Glad I did not watch his Netflix special ahead of time because it was basically the same set.
The show was in the Terry Fator theater and we got drinks in the puppet guy cups. LOL. Why are these puppet shows so dang popular? I DO NOT GET IT!!!!

Anyway, after the show we walked back to the hotel and called it a night I think.
Sunday morning we had breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi. We even sat on the patio outside. It was a bit chilly outside, but they had plenty of heaters going, so it was not cold at all.

John watched the beginning of the Vikings game at a bar at Paris, while I got ready. We watched the second half at the Westgate. The Superbook was quite packed, but we found places to sit in the theater, which also had lots of games on. We signed up for their players club and got some free play.
We took Uber down to Main Street Station and grabbed some lunch. It was decent, but nothing too exciting.

I think we played video poker for awhile at Boar's Head bar and then went over to the Golden Gate and played blackjack for awhile. We Ubered back to Paris and changed clothes for dinner.
We forgot to check out Ghost Donkey in November, so we walked over there and had a drink each.

It is in the very back of the Block 16 food court. You need to look for a door with a picture of a donkey on it. It is a tiny little place that fits maybe 25-30 people. It is small. The drinks were great, not cheap, of course, because Cosmo.
We were super indecisive about where to go for dinner, so we ended up at Yardbird, which is becoming a standby choice for us. I had the blackberry bourbon lemonade.
ribs
crispy brussels
fried chicken

The food and service were great, as always. After dinner, we Ubered back to Paris and played Wheel of Fortune for a rather long time. We kept getting wheel spins and smallish wins. I think we finally decided to cash out and call it a night after a small profit each.
Monday morning we took Uber out to Suncoast casino in order to eat the DuPar's. Yeah, we miss the Golden Gate location that much. and it was worth the trip. Solid food as always.

We played a few slots at Suncoast and then took Lyft down to the Golden Nugget.
John had an offer for a free stocking filled with an assortment of things-- playing cards, lanyard and key trackers. The stocking was kind of cute though. We found a $10 3-2 blackjack table and payed for quite awhile. We also went to the D and redeemed some free play. John also had a promo for $100 in free play at the Downtown Grand, which he was able to turn into $150 on a Buffalo Gold machine. So not a bad morning downtown at all.

We went to Wolfgang Puck Cuisine at Crystals for lunch. I had a MyVegas award for $25 off two entrees. John's margarita pizza is above.
I had the ricotta ravioli. The food and service were really good and I don't think the chips were ever redeemed form my account for some odd reason. After that we played a few slots at Aria.

Next, we checked out the holiday themed gardens at the Bellagio.
We used a MyVegas award for free drinks at Lily at Bellagio. Cocktails were excellent. After that, we went over to the Cromwell and played $15 blackjack again. I managed to turn my $100 buy in into $200 in additional profit, so I was happy with that session.
Donny and Marie are looking a bit worse for wear.
We had been heard a lot about the new Hell's Kitchen since it opened, so we did make reservations some time in advance. It books up most every night.

We decided to do the prix fixe 3 course tasting menu.
yuki onna drink
scallops
beef wellington
sticky toffee pudding

The service was impeccable and the food was great too. I had never had beef Wellington before and I quite liked it. It was very tender and nicely prepared.

I think we walked back to Paris and called it a night after dinner. We didn't want to go too crazy since we had to head home the next day fairly early.
Tuesday morning we walked over to the Cosmo and were debating between The Henry or Eggslut, but was we came in there was a lot of noise from the Bond bar construction and stinky smells, we went to Eggslut. The line moved pretty quickly and the sandwiches were great. I had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.
Fairfax with turkey sausage

Our flight home was fine, we arrived a bit early so we were able to pick up Maya from the boarding kennel on the way home too.

We had a good trip, but I think we both agreed that we would not go on two trips so close together again. Twice in less than 30 days is a bit much, even for us.
