J.D. Hoyt's Supper Club

We've never set foot in J.D. Hoyt's Supper Club even though it has been around for years. They have valet parking most of the time or there is plenty of street parking in the area. The dining room is filled with greenery and memorabilia that's fun to look at.

The garlic toast was top notch!
John had the cajun pork chop and said it was good.
The cajun hash browns were very crispy and delicious. Highly recommend.
I had the prime rib. I did not love how they grilled it, it made it too well done and I prefer prime rib a bit more rare. It was nice that the meats included a vegetable though.

The service was excellent throughout our meal. Overall, I enjoyed most of the food and I'd simply try something else next time around.

Baldamar Steak House

Baldamar opened back in 2019, but we had not had a chance to visit yet. A restaurant in  a mall parking lot doesn't sound that exciting, but we were pleasantly surprised with the high quality good and beverage. The ambiance is nice as well.

We started with bread is life with French baguette, honey jalapeño butter, green chimichurri. The bread was hot and freshly baked and the jalapeño butter was unique and flavorful. The chimichurri was tasty too.
I had the jungle bird cocktail with Norseman pineappple rum, Angostura bitters, lime juice. Could not resist the fact that they had Norseman rum!
John had the hanger steak chimichurri with grilled tomato  and scallion on toasted baguette. The steak was very tender and cooked as requested. The chimichurri was very flavorful.
I had the whiskey smith scallops with Neuske's bacon, apple relish and fresno. They were nicely served but not as hot as they could have been.
We shared the truffle fries with chipotle aioli, ketchup and ranch. The fries were hot and house made. Very good. Delicious fries are not difficult but so great when they are perfect.

I feel like I haven't heard much about Baldamar in the local media, which is surprising to me. Maybe I just have not been paying attention since it isn't really in our neck of the woods. We were very pleased with the quality of the food and the service was excellent as well. I'd really like to go back and try their brunch too.
