Manny's Tortas

John and I stopped at the Midtown Global Market for lunch last weekend. It is always fun to wander around the market and see what is new. There is almost always some sort of event or music on the weekends. It looks like they have opened things up a bit more and added more seating too.

We both ordered the Manny's special torta. First off, they arrive burning hot, so you have to wait awhile for it to cool off so you don't give yourself third degree burns in your mouth! A torta is a type of Mexican sandwich that usually had grilled meat, refried beans, cheese and assorted toppings. The Manny's special is chopped steak and ham with cheese, onions and peppers grilled on a flat top. The bun is toasted and the refried beans are applied to one side of the bun. A spicy mayonnaise sauce is on the other side and then it is topped off with slides of avocado.  It is a very spicy and flavorful sandwich and so delicious. They also have Mexican Coca Cola, which I love because it is made with real cane sugar instead of corn syrup. I think it tastes better than regular Coke.

As with other places in the Global Market you just order at the counter. Our sandwiches were brought out once they were ready.
