Las Vegas Trip Report 5.31-6.5.2019 - The One Where John Scored his First Purple Chip

Time for another belated Las Vegas trip report. Also, I should really figure out what number trip I am on and track it in these blog posts. I think we are both over 20 times to Las Vegas now, at least. I quit taking notes on our last couple of trips and I should really go back to that. I think I am forgetting things....

We ate at Republic at the airport before our flight this time after briefly stopping in the Escape Lounge for a bit.

Our flight was uneventful (thanks Delta!) and we took rideshare to the hotel and checked into the Golden Nugget.

We decided to upgrade to the Rush tower on arrival.

Nice view from the room. (taken the next morning)
We stopped at the D and then stopped for a snack at Eureka. I love this mushroom toast!
The nachos were just OK. Service was fine as we sat at the bar.

Then we went to the Golden Gate and played blackjack for awhile. Next, we went to the El Cortez and played more blackjack.
Saturday, June first was the opening day of Circa sports book at the Golden Gate, so we stopped by on our way to breakfast. Derek Stevens and some of his employees seemed to be milling about, but nothing too major was going on. John stopped back later to place a couple of bets.
We finally tried Market Street Cafe at the Cal, since the line was not a million people long. It was solid, nothing too exciting though.

Circa Las Vegas is coming along.....

I think I went back to the room to get ready for the day. Next, we went to Main Street Station to play video poker at Boar's Head bar. We played blackjack a little bit also.
Later in the afternoon, we sat at the bar at Chart House and had some appetizers. The food was really delicious.

We played slots at the Golden Nugget for a couple hours. John had a nice Buffalo win. I think I got a bit out of Top Dollar, but otherwise not a lot of wins to report.

We stopped at Vic and Anthony's because I wanted a pear martini. It was as great as I remembered.
We stopped at the D and played a few slots and used some free play. We sat at Vue bar and played some video poker also. Next, we stopped at Downtown Cocktail Room for a round of drinks.
We stopped at Pizza Rock for dinner, and it was excellent as always. We met our friend Kris at El Dorado Cantina for drinks. The rest of the night is classified.
Sunday morning we had breakfast at Magnolia's Cafe at Four Queens. Very good as always. I sound like a broken record since we go to the same places all the time.

We checked out of the Golden Nugget and wandered around a bit downtown before packing up and heading to the Cosmopolitan.

We had a terrace studio room on the 51st floor facing Planet Hollywood. Nice room as always. I suppose we could have paid more for fountain view, but I wasn't feeling like paying extra this time. We each had one night comped from our silver status at Cosmo and I paid for the first night through Fine Hotels and Resorts program though American Express, so we got free breakfast buffet in the morning and $100 spa credit. Not a bad deal really.

We played a little video poker at the sports book bar and I headed to the spa for a massage appointment.
The massage was great and the spa is very nice also. After my massage I sat in the hot tub for awhile and then headed up to the room to shower and get ready.
We went to Ghost Donkey behind the Distric 16 area for drinks and a plate of nachos.

The mushroom machos were surprisingly great. Really! I wasn't expecting much but they were very flavorful.
We checked out Barbershop, where Bond Bar used to be located. It was early, so it was pretty quiet in there, but I guess they have a band nightly. The drinks were really good also. Not cheap, but it is the Cosmo.....
We were chatting with the bartender and she suggested we go to Clique for snacks, so we followed her advice. It was great advice!
The Clique wings were really great like the bartender said.
spicy tuna appetizer was tasty as well
We decided to try the Orleans for some low limit blackjack. It is a nice enough casino, but I did not have a great session.
I guess my best hot of the day was the four sixes above. Yikes.

Monday morning we went to Wicked Spoon for breakfast since it was free as part of our first night's booking. The pic above was hummus and veggies in a cute mini flowerpot.

We spent the middle part of the day at the Boulevard pool. We tried to find spots at the Bamboo pool but there were a lot more open seats at the Boulevard pool. The Dole Whip drink is amazing also!
After getting showered and dressed, we went to China Poblano for a late lunch. We just sat at the bar and while the service was rather slow, the food was excellent.

After lunch we walked the strip a bit and ended up playing blackjack at the Cromwell for a few hours. John did well on his $100 buy in and cashed out with the $525 above. I broke even, which was a struggle!

We walked back to the Cosmo and played some video poker at the sports book bar. I had another round of quads. Four aces would have been better, but I couldn't hit anything great this time.
We had a late dinner of appetizers at Blue Ribbon and I think we called it a night after that.

We had breakfast on Tuesday morning at The Henry at the Cosmo. The short rib Benedict is amazing.
John had a breakfast burrito.

We spent the middle part of the day at the pool again.
We had a late lunch at Hattie B's fried chicken. I guess we were so hungry I forgot to take food photos. The food was delicious and spicy.  I had a chicken sandwich and John had chicken tenders.

After lunch we took an Uber over to Palace Station and played video poker and some blackjack. I was hoping for a random big win so I even played some bar top keno. Keno sucks it turns out.
We had both gotten BOGOs from MyVegas for Juniper Lounge at Park MGM, so we used those. I really liked the lounge last time we visited and the drinks are really very good.

I think we played a few slots while we waited to get into Best Friend. Oddly, when we tried to walk in, they said they were booked, but I was able to make a reservation 30 minutes ahead on open table. Strange.
I had gotten a comp appetizer for Best Friend and we had wanted to give it a try. The 80's looking logo is fun. This is also located at Park MGM.

The food and service were both quite good and I think Best Friend might be one of the best new additions at Park MGM.

Wednesday morning we had breakfast at Wicked Spoon again since we had BOGOs from our Cosmo silver status. It was not an exciting choice, but it was fast and fine.
Lake Mead and Hoover Dam way off in the distance.

This trip consisted of a lot of old favorites and just a few new places, like Barbershop at the Cosmo and Best Friend at Park MGM. We also both  re-qualified for silver at the Cosmo, which isn't hard with room, food and beverage spend getting 5 times points. So that means we get to stay there agin next year sometime.

Our flight home was on time and fine as usual. Up next are our September and November Vegas trips.
