The World Street Kitchen food truck is still hitting the streets and putting out great food. I stopped by last week to try a new menu item. Don't worry, they still have all of your favorites like the Yum Yum Rice Bowl and burritos. They just rotate the menu daily.
I had the shrimp ceviche tostadas. The shrimp was marinates in citrus with onions and tomatoes and had great flavor. It was topped with corn, avocado, cilantro, guacamole and lime crema fresca. It was a nice light lunch for a hot summer day. This was very flavorful and I hope they have it on the menu again soon.

World Street Kitchen - truck and restaurant revisited
I have a couple more recently revisited items to share. Apparently I’ve been eating at WSK a lot in the last week or two. It is so good, I can’t stay away! I wish we lived closer!
John and I went to the restaurant one weeknight for dinner. It was not busy at all, though it was pretty early in the evening. He had the burrito again, but I tried something new, the MFC biscuit sandwich. This sandwich is amazing! It is what they call Moroccan fried chicken with carrot/preserved lemon salad and spicy feta spread on a cheddar scallion biscuit. The biscuit reminds me of the Red Lobster cheddar biscuits. However, this biscuit is a bit sturdier to hold the chicken and other contents. I also think WSK should fry up whole chickens, because the breading on this chicken breast was outstanding. It was light, but very crispy and flaky and there was a hint of spice as well. The chicken was very juicy too. The carrot and preserved lemon salad gave the sandwich a tart and cooling after bite and the spicy feta was indeed spicy, but it was not overpowering with the chicken and the bread. The sandwich did not look that large, but I was full when I was finished.
I stopped at the WSK food truck this week as well. I saw on twitter they had a steak sandwich on special, so I had to try it. The so-called twenty dollar steak sandwich has shaved rib eye, caramelized onions and truffled taleggio fondue on a toasted baguette. The meat was well done, but not at all overdone or chewy. The cheese over the top was divine. Very rich and flavorful. All for $12. It was a very large and filling sandwich. I would order this again!

World Street Kitchen
One of my favorite food trucks has become a brick and mortar restaurant that I can visit whenever I want! No more waiting days and days for the World Street Kitchen truck to have mt favorite yum yum bowl on the menu. They have it every day now! I am very happy to see the recent transformation of food trucks into restaurants. It is a testament to the dedication of the entrepreneurs willing to take a chance and launch a food truck based business.
The World Street Kitchen restaurant is a counter service place- just order at the counter and your items will be delivered as they are ready. The atmosphere is very industrial and functional. They have a nice variety of local beers on tap and in bottles in addition to wines and sangria. I like that they offer alcoholic drinks, it definitely adds to the food and atmosphere.

love the sign!
I had the daily special- a fish sandwich with lettuce, special sauce and potato chips.
John had the Korean BBQ Bangkok burrito.
white sangria - white wine, grapefruit and honey
I had the fish sandwich that was the daily special and it was very delicious. The bun was toasted and had a special sauce on it that added a bit of spice. The fish was crunchy, not greasy and very light and flaky. The lettuce and potato chips added a bit of extra crunch. At first, I thought the portion was a bit small, but once I was finished I was full, so the portion was just right. This is a very delicious and crave-worthy sandwich.
John had the Korean BBQ beef short rib Bangkok burrito. It was a gigantic monster of a burrito and rolled perfectly. It was stuffed with fried rice, secret sauce, cilantro basil and the flavorful beef short ribs. He loved the burrito and can't wait to go back and have it again.
The food and drink was great and I look forward to returning. The food is just as good as it was on the truck, though I still look forward to the truck being out and about this summer.
Deals & Discounts: Happy hour is available daily from 3-6pm and 9 to close. Right now it includes half price snacks, $5 cocktails, $3 house wine and $3 local tap beer. Though I am sure the specials can change without notice.

World Street Kitchen food truck- Yum Yum Chicken Rice Bowl
I've been in love with the Yum Yum Korean BBQ Rice Bowl from World Street Kitchen for awhile now. I noticed they had a new rice bowl the O.G. Chicken. I asked about it when I ordered and she described it in detail and made it sound great.
There was a good amount of chicken and it had a lot of flavor and spice to it however, the meat was described as very juicy and moist, but I found it to be quite dry actually. On other visits the poached egg has been runny and on this visit it was over hard and over done. I really do like it when the egg is runny and it soaks into the rice! All of the other ingredients were the same as the BBQ rice bowl and just fine. The chicken rice bowl was just ok overall and maybe I just got some dry chicken, but I don't think I'd get this again. I'll go back to ordering the Korean BBQ rice bowl instead.

World Street Kitchen food truck
I think I've discovered my new favorite lunch spot and my new favorite lunch food. Check out the Korean BBQ short ribs yum yum rice bowl from World Street Kitchen below. Ok, ok it is not a bowl, but a box, but they call it a bowl on their menu for some reason! I tried it for the first time last week and I was dying to go back and try it again this week. Yesterday they did not have it on the menu, but they had it today. Maybe they only have it available on certain days of the week. I'm not sure yet, but I intend to figure it out!
Anyway, this box contains a multitude of goodies. I had to make a list of the contents the first time I tried it since I kept running into more and more delicious goodness. They start with sticky rice and piled on top is Korean BBQ short rib meat, mushrooms, chinese broccoli, caramelized onions, green onions, a poached egg, peanuts, sesame seeds, cilantro, Thai basil, and some special sauce. There could have been more goodies I missed!
The meat was tender and had a sweet BBQ sauce on it. There is a nice hit of crunch from the chinese broccoli and the other greens too. The secret sauce is a little bit spicy, though I did see some people adding some rooster sauce to their orders. All of the ingredients fit together really well and you get a different flavor combination in every bite.
This is really enough for two meals since the box contains a lot of food. Some might feel the $10 price tag is a bit steep, but the ingredients are high quality and freshly made. That combination is harder to find among the lunchtime options downtown that you might think.
With WSK and all food trucks, I recommend following them on Twitter to find out their daily hours, location and menus. This truck is always pretty much always parked at Nicollet Mall and 5th Street in the corner of a parking lot next to the light rail station.
